KUGU Days 2026 Featuring Product Premieres for Sector Coupling, System Diagnostics, and AI-Sssisted Metering Processes

Berlin-based KUGU Home GmbH presented, together with selected partners, how the heat transition in existing building stock can be translated into practical, economically viable day-to-day operations. The focus was on two product premieres within the KUGU energy platform: the new VIS System Diagnostics for greater technical transparency in the boiler room, and the EOS mode "Dynamic Electricity Pricing", which intelligently connects and optimises heat pumps, the electricity market, and building operations. The programme was complemented by new features in AbSys and AI-assisted submetering processes.
Berlin, 2 June 2026 — At KUGU Days on 28 and 29 May 2026, experts from the housing industry, energy services, metering, and the energy sector once again convened in Berlin. The innovation day on 28 May was dedicated entirely to the digital energy and building world. KUGU presented two product innovations within its energy platform for transparency and optimisation of heating systems.

The digital control centre KUGU VIS — the Visual Information System — displays relevant operational data in real time and has been expanded with a comprehensive system diagnostics feature. Based on more than 20 criteria, the interaction of the entire system can be analysed directly after installation and commissioning: hardware condition, operating behaviour, hydraulics, and efficiency are evaluated and translated into clear recommendations for technical improvements.
Together with Gewobag ED, KUGU demonstrated how system diagnostics can be deployed across existing building stock to detect technical anomalies at an early stage and prioritise measures in a targeted manner. "KUGU Days are for us every year an excellent opportunity to put the results of our collaboration into context, gather new ideas, and engage in dialogue with partners from across the industry," says Dominik Unger, Authorised Signatory at Gewobag ED.
Making Sector Coupling Economically Viable
KUGU EOS, the Energy Optimisation System, is the digital solution for automated heating system control. It continuously optimises energy supply — based on a digital building model, usage patterns, and current weather forecasts. The new "Dynamic Electricity Pricing" mode is relevant for buildings with heat pumps and sector-coupled energy systems: the forecast market electricity price from the exchange is integrated into the optimisation of the heating system. Depending on the objective, the weighting between energy efficiency and electricity costs can be varied.

The product innovation was presented together with Green Way Energy. "Together with KUGU, we presented our new product around dynamic electricity tariffs and received very positive feedback. This shows how relevant the connection between heat pump operation, the electricity market, and digital optimisation is becoming in practice," says Marc Hilliger, Head of Sales at Green Way Energy.
Making Innovation Tangible and Enabling Exchange
termios GmbH then delivered the first partner impulse, addressing the interplay between heating system optimisation and individual room control. "To achieve genuine efficiency and sustainably reduce heating energy consumption, we need to think about the boiler room and the apartment level together. That was also what KUGU Days was about: with termios, we bring in the perspective from within the apartments, while KUGU adds digital optimisation in the boiler room. Together, we can take a more holistic approach to heating optimisation and bring it further into practice," says Marco Maisel, Head of Sales at termios.

In the second partner contribution, SAMSON demonstrated how digital control technology and transparent operational data can make district heating systems more efficient. "District heating becomes secure, affordable, and CO₂-neutral when the network, transfer station, and building are thought of together digitally. The technology for this exists and is proven — what matters now is consistent implementation across existing stock," says Dirk Eggers, Managing Director of SAMSON KT-Elektronik GmbH.
True to the event's motto of making innovation tangible and enabling exchange, the focus then shifted to togetherness. At the joint get-together, participants made the most of the sunny evening for conversations and fresh inspiration for future collaboration.

AbSys User Day: Digital Metering Processes in Focus
On 29 May, the AbSys User Day revolved entirely around KUGU's central metering platform. The focus was on the further integration of AbSys into the KUGU platform, the introduction of Portal 2.0, and new features for greater automation, transparency, and efficiency in day-to-day metering processes.
A particular emphasis was placed on the newly developed middleware, which will in future connect AbSys more closely with Portal 2.0, the data pipeline, external interfaces, and other KUGU systems. It establishes the technical foundation to further automate data flows from collection through billing to data provision — and will enable KUGU to integrate AI agents into billing processes in the coming months. The roadmap outlook included, among other things, e-invoicing, expanded monitoring features, and AI-assisted functions for support, analysis, and reporting. In open workshops, users contributed their experiences and wishes for further product development.
Exchange as the Foundation for Scalable Solutions
"The real estate and energy industries are no longer facing transformation — we are right in the middle of it. At KUGU, we see ourselves not merely as a software provider, but as a long-term partner that identifies the pressing questions of the industry early and translates them into scalable solutions. With KUGU Days, we have established a format that brings decision-makers together to turn ideas into concrete applications," summarises Christopher von Gumppenberg, CEO and Co-Founder of KUGU Home GmbH. "We are proud of the positive feedback on our innovations!"
KUGU extends its thanks to all participants, partners, and speakers who brought KUGU Days 2026 to life and enriched the professional exchange. KUGU Days will continue in 2027.
